I was thinking
I’d go for a walk today
Down to the library
To return a book
With a title I don’t remember
And that I haven’t yet opened
Then stop by the post office
And check for mail
Swing by the creek
To see if salmon are running
Thrashing their way home
To soon and certain death
But I looked out the window
And saw the bucket
Filled with water
From earlier showers
Raindrops began to splash
On the surface
Fulfilling the forecasts
I’d hoped were not true
